Hard Rock Hotel Bali held its annual Body Painting Competition, via a series of qualifying rounds conducted each Wednesday in August and with the grand finals held in September 2008. The Center Stage was host to an event which saw steady-handed young artists apply paints to minimally-dressed female models. The artists were given only one hour in which to complete their paintings covering the entire body of the models. Prize and cash award were presented to finalist during each week of the qualifying rounds with grand prizes reserved for the last round held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. The grand final saw 16 leading artists compete with the following final results: Best Body Painting Artist 2008 - Made Swardana with the theme Giant Butterfly. Finalist - Putu Arya with the theme Lion. Finalist - Nyoman Paka with the theme Dragon. Finalist - Arif Bahtiar with the theme El Matador. Finalist - I.B. Wardana with the theme Terminator. As the winner of the grand finalist round Made Swardana won Rp. 2 million (US$219), merchandise from sponsors and a range of branded items from Hard Rock Hotel Bali.
